Grant Funding Competitions – May 2018
There are a range of grant funding opportunities available to all types of businesses to help develop innovative new products or services. Below is a summary of all the Innovation Funding competitions which open this month that R&D Funding Group can offer bid-writing services for. This list will be updated as new competitions are announced.

Audience of the Future: Design Foundations
Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, are looking to fund early-stage, human-centred design projects through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF). These will seek to understand customer needs and create new or better ideas across the creative industries through immersive audience experiences, and products or services used to create, deliver and experience immersive content.
Total funding available: £1 million

Audience of the Future: Demonstrators
This competition aims to explore future global, mass market, commercial opportunities in the creative industries. Primarily this will be through pre-commercial collaboration at scale. You must demonstrate you can significantly improve on the current state of the art in your field. Proposals must include access to globally recognised intellectual property (IP) and reach an audience of 100,000 people.

Precision Medicine Technologies: Shaping the Future
The aim of this competition is to support the commercial development of precision medicine technologies. This is defined as innovations that enable early and accurate diagnosis which will help with patient management or therapy selection.

Open Programme Funding Competition Round 1
This competition is open to the best cutting-edge or disruptive ideas or concepts with a view to commercialisation. These can come from any area of technology, science or engineering, including arts, design, media or creative industries, and be applied to any part of the economy.

Commercialising Quantum Devices: Innovation R&D
The aim of this competition is to advance the commercialisation of quantum technologies in the UK through the delivery of working prototype ‘second generation’ quantum devices or systems that fulfil the technical and ergonomic requirements of end users.

March 2018 Sector Competition
Innovate UK are looking to fund highly innovative projects with the best game changing and/or disruptive ideas or concepts with a view to commercialisation and economic impact. Projects should aim to lead to new products, processes or services (or novel use of existing ones) believed to be significantly ahead of anything similar available in the field.

Medicines Manufacturing Round 2: Challenge Fund
This competition is to support innovation projects in medicines manufacturing and will be funded through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund. Projects should focus on specific technical or commercial challenges.

Biomedical Catalyst 2018 Round 1: Feasibility Award
The aim of this funding competition is to support the development of innovative healthcare products, technologies and processes. This competition is for a feasibility stage award which is designed for projects that have developed an innovative concept or carried out experimental proof of concept but have not validated the technology. There is also an early stage award competition (see below).

Biomedical Catalyst 2018 Round 1: Early Stage Award
The aim of this funding competition is to support the development of innovative healthcare products, technologies and processes. This competition is for an early stage award which is suitable for businesses that are continuing a project’s early stage development and technical evaluation, up to readiness for clinical testing. There is also a feasibility award competition (see above).
