Grant Funding Competitions – June 2018
Here’s our monthly round-up of innovation grant funding competitions for June 2018. This includes all the new competitions opening this month and those that are still open for entries from previous months. These are all the current grant funding opportunities that R&D Funding Group can provide bid-writing services for.

Connected and Autonomous Vehicles 4: Piloting Passenger Services
The Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) is to invest in up to 4 industry-led projects that develop and then ‘pilot’ CAV services at scale in a UK setting. UK businesses can apply for funding to research new connected and autonomous vehicle technologies and demonstrate them in a real-world trial. This competition will fund collaborative research and development projects.

Plastics Innovation: Towards Zero Waste
Innovate UK will invest in innovation projects that propose to reduce the harm that plastics do to our environment and increase productivity and growth of the UK economy. The aim of this competition is to support innovative activities that result in less persistent plastic waste in our environment. This can be achieved by developing new polymers, processes, designs, recycling regimes, value added recyclate or bio-alternatives.

Manufacturing Readiness and Scale up of Genomic Analysis Technologies
Innovate UK will invest in innovation projects that increase the UK commercial capacity to manufacture real time or rapid genomic analysis equipment, such as high throughput nucleic acid sequencing. Projects need to demonstrate that the capital investment grant they are requesting will advance the UK’s ability to manufacture genomic analysis technologies, encourage partnerships between public and private organisations, and maximise further investment.

Meridian 3: Autonomous Highway, Rural and Parking Test Facilities
The Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) in partnership with Meridian Mobility and Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest in up to 6 projects. This is to develop CAV testing infrastructure for autonomous parking and autonomous driving on rural roads and highways.

Meridian 2: Connected Vehicles Data Exchange
The Centre for Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CCAV) in partnership with Meridian Mobility and Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation, will invest in a single project. This is to develop one or more platforms for the exchange of connected vehicle data. The project will facilitate the exchange of data, to test, develop, demonstrate and exploit CAV opportunities.

Audience of the Future: Design Foundations
Innovate UK, as part of UK Research and Innovation, are looking to fund early-stage, human-centred design projects through the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund (ISCF). These will seek to understand customer needs and create new or better ideas across the creative industries through immersive audience experiences, and products or services used to create, deliver and experience immersive content.

Audience of the Future: Demonstrators
This competition aims to explore future global, mass market, commercial opportunities in the creative industries. Primarily this will be through pre-commercial collaboration at scale. You must demonstrate you can significantly improve on the current state of the art in your field. Proposals must include access to globally recognised intellectual property (IP) and reach an audience of 100,000 people.

Precision Medicine Technologies: Shaping the Future
The aim of this competition is to support the commercial development of precision medicine technologies. This is defined as innovations that enable early and accurate diagnosis which will help with patient management or therapy selection.

Open Programme Funding Competition Round 1
This competition is open to the best cutting-edge or disruptive ideas or concepts with a view to commercialisation. These can come from any area of technology, science or engineering, including arts, design, media or creative industries, and be applied to any part of the economy.

Commercialising Quantum Devices: Innovation R&D
The aim of this competition is to advance the commercialisation of quantum technologies in the UK through the delivery of working prototype ‘second generation’ quantum devices or systems that fulfil the technical and ergonomic requirements of end users.
